Here I want to introduce myself:

I was born in 1938. In 1952 I started an apprenticeship as a tree nursery gardener. Since then I own my first cactus (echinopsis hybr.). After that I was working in a flower shop and in the zoological garden Leipzig as a gardener. After an occupational retraining I was occupied in the electric measurement a few years.
In 1968 I had already built my first green house (12 x 3,50m). In 1970 I started with 2 000 seed grafts on pereskiopsis. In 1972 I needed another greenhouse (6 x 3m). Beside simple houses and additive plastic tents a big house for offering my plants was added in 1982. It was placed were the old house used to be and 56 cold frame windows were added. That was necessary because in the beginning of 1978 I started to go independently as 'Cacti Culture Werner Sporbert', Markkleeberg-West, and Kirschallee 24.
In 1994 my family and I moved to Oberotterbach which is located at the ‚Southern Wine Street' and here I have to get by with two heatable green houses with a total of 72 m² and a plastic tent with approximately 25 m². Alongside my old collection of plants I especially apply myself to seed grafting on selenicereus and pereskiopsis. Mainly the Mexican species proliferate. Beside the obligatory breeds with their own root (no hotbed was used to breed those) in 2001 about 4 000 seed grafts were implemented. It's save to say that I'm gonna strike a snag with the storage because I produce more than I can keep myself.

I have an excellent stock of mother plants and thanks to my great and reliable friends I'm also able to breed novelties. Therefore I can offer numberless plants for a reasonable prize!

I'd be glad to welcome you in our 1000 year old Oberotterbach after an advance notification by phone. Apart from cacti you can enjoy the excellent wine, the fresh air and my fellow citizens` hospitality.
To get there by car you take the B 38 coming from the North (Landau/ Rhineland-Palatinate and Bad Bergzabern). You can find the ‚German Wine Gate' with Schweigen- Rechtenbach in the South. At the center of Oberotterbach, the so called 'Plätzel' (center), you take the Guttenbergstraße or Oberdorfstraße westwards up the hill. The third crossroad is the Eichhorngasse.
